Car Craft Show Review
Car Craft 2005, Stafford County Showground.
The Jimini Kitcar & Model Club in partnership with the Jimini Automobile Company Limited are proud to introduce the all Electric, Jimini Trend-E. The electric Trend-E broke cover for the first time at Car Craft 2005. Along with the Jimini Two, the Jimini Automobile Company Limited had not one but two cars on display this year, and had the distinction of still been the only Kitcar currently available that is either a 2-seater, a 4-seater, a pickup or a utility vehicle.
Jimini Automobiles Co Ltd was just inside the main entrance. With the bold Volcano Orange paintwork, Alloy wheels the electric Trend-E was certainly stunning, sitting alongside the bright yellow and black cheerful Jimini ll. Kerrion Marsh, MD of Jimini Automobiles Co Ltd was on hand every moment of the show to talk build techniques, technical advice and of course those vital questions about the electric motors powering the Trend-E.
As Club Secretary, I was able to spend some of the Saturday afternoon at the show, talking to many people about the new car, aswell as my car and the JK&MC. I had several interesting conversations, and especially one with Jimini owner who joked that he thought "he was the only one", and was very pleased to find out he wasn't! Another gentleman was astounded just how cheap it could be to insure a Jimini. When I said I paid £70, he asked is that a month? The look on his face when I said it was for a whole year, I wish I had photographed his delight!
Kerrion had come well prepared, as he seemed to have hundreds of brochures, which was proving to be a good thing. The front-end of the electric Trend-E is only a 'styling' exercise to judge public opinion at the show and not the final design.
Other vehicles displayed at the show included several versions of the venerable Cobra, and as always there was a complete horde of Lotus 7 inspired 2-seaters, one displaying a very convincing Police livery complete with blue lights and sirens. Once again the Jago's were up in the Gods, along with the Rickman Rangers.
Kerrion had decided that the electric Trend-E would debut at Car Craft 2005, and we are pleased that that proved to be a success! The Series Two continued to impress, with the more conventional internal combustion engine. The new all electric Jimini Trend-E and Jimini ll will be on show at other venues during the forthcoming "Show" season. Please email the secretary for further details of either vehicles and intended show dates.
